What to expect at your first visit.

New Patients:  At Clearview Family Chiropractic our comprehensive New Patient process consists of two important appointments.

1st Appointment:  During your 1st visit at Clearview Family Chiropractic you will be asked to fill out the necessary new patient application forms as completely as possible, this gives Dr. Doug the most updated information to determine the cause of the condition in which you have come it to get corrected. He will then take you back for a one-on-one consultation to discuss in more detail your current health issues and goals, as well as uncover the layers of past damage done and its associated cause .  A comprehensive chiropractic examination and evaluation including a digital postural analysis, spinal thermography , physical examination and digital radiographs (if necessary) to further help determine the precise cause of your problem.

The Physical Exam: What to expect.
You will first be asked to do a series of activities and exercises, which will provide information about your balance, gait, and motor skills. These tests help determine your range of motion, muscle tone and strength, and nervous system integrity.  Any abnormalities found could provide the Doctor with clues about your condition. For example you may be asked to:

  • Bend forward, sideways, or backwards – The reason for this is a misaligned spinal vertebra can sometimes be detected during this exercise.
  • Stand or sit – Your posture can sometimes show whether you have misalignments in your spine.
  • Walk a straight line – By measuring your gait, the Doctor can determine if you have a normal walking pattern.
  • Walk in place – Abnormalities in the way your pelvis and spine coordinate can be seen during this test.
  • Postural Evaluation
  • Spinal Thermography

Next, a short physical exam by the chiropractor will involve palpation, or use of the hands, to evaluate the alignment of your spine, as well as provide information on any stimuli that may cause pain. At which point Dr. Doug will advise you of any recommended laboratory tests, Nerve System functional Exams or X-rays that may be necessary.

Once  your New Patient consultation and exams are complete you will be asked to schedule a follow-up appointment for you and your spouse or significant other called the “Patient Recommendation Conference” at which time the cause of your current condition will be discussed. After reviewing your case, the doctor will decide if you will be accepted as a patient, he will also go through a thorough explanation of care recommendations and the necessary action steps needed to obtain your desired results.

2nd Appointment: Your “Patient Recommendation Conference” will be the most important appointment with Dr. Doug, because this is when he will take the time to educate you about your examination findings, while teaching you about your X-rays and what they should and should not look like. He will also educate you some of the top leading Diseases and how you and your family can avoid them.  Then if care is recommended he will go over a detailed explanation of his care recommendations as well as the necessary steps you would need to take to correct your problem.  Then he will review your financial situation, insurance coverage and how we work with people that have limited insurance coverage or no coverage to make care affordable.
